The asking prices of homes for sale in Virginia stabilized last month. The average asking price of residential properties listed in the State of Virginia increased by 0.4% to $339,500 from February to March 2010.

The city with the largest property value for sale is Chesterfield with total homes on the market of just over $764 million.  Chesterfield is also the city with the largest number of properties (2,767 homes and lots) on the market with an average asking price of $276,000. Alexandria had the second largest total value of real estate for sale with a total value of $753 million; however the average property price was at $512,000.  Henrico with total property value of $564 million, Williamsburg with total homes on the market of $524 million, and properties for sale in McLean round out the top five communities. 

Real Estate in White Post has the highest average property value at just over $2.1 million.  There are a total of fourteen communities with an average asking price of over $1 million.  Only two cities, Mc Lean, VA with an average home ask of $1,850,000 and Great Falls, VA with an average property ask of $1,762,000, have over 100 properties listed for sale.  The other communities on this list include: Richardsville, The Plains VA, Charlottesville VA, Millwood VA, Paeonian Springs VA, Hillsville VA, Potomac Falls VA, Delaplane VA, Virginia Beach VA, Dulles VA, and Middleburg VA

There are eight communities with over 1,000 properties listed for sale in Virginia.  These are: Chesterfield VA with 2,767 properties, Henrico VA with 2,192 homes, Roanoke VA with 1,787 properties, Richmond VA with 1,717 homes, Alexandria VA with 1,472 properties, Williamsburg VA with 1,206 homes for sale, Fredericksburg VA has 1,068 properties, and Woodbridge VA has 1018 homes listed for sale
